"Multiple loads, via multiple trips, have been made so far this year,
beginning with Naw-Ruz. There are plans to take another load tomorrow, the
sixth in honor of the Ridvan Festival. This ongoing service project began
several years ago when multiple area families collected household items and
furnishings to be brought by rented truck and donated to Humble Design for use in their mission
of helping families and individuals who were previously homeless finally have
a place to call home. With each trip, the staff is informed that these
gifts and donations are from the Baha'i Community in honor of that specific
Holy Day. The hope is to continue this service project by collecting more
furnishings and household goods for upcoming Baha'i Holy Days." Anyone
interested in donating or assisting, please contact the Luxions at: [linda.luxion@gmail.com

"Our thoughts often are on visiting others and building ties through home
visits, but recently we were on the receiving end and it was a very moving
experience. We had many recent challenges, health and otherwise, and had been
cooped up in the house. One Friday night, some of our dear friends asked if
they could come over to visit. We were very happy and cooked up some dinner to
share. We ate together and talked late into the night and it did so much to
lift our spirits and it brought our hearts even closer together. And we saw
that even as we had planned on visiting others, we ourselves benefitted
greatly from a home visit. The benefits go both ways whether we give or
receive."

“I have realized that patience truly is a virtue. Consider ʻAbdu'l-Bahá's
quote: “Where there is love, nothing is too much trouble and there is always
time." Love is very much needed as well as patience. When sewing bonds of
friendship it can be surprising how certain conversations can emerge and where
you see a need that the institute process can help fill, it is time to act.
During a discussion I had with a dear friend of the Faith that I have been
collaborating with for a few years, the topic of life after death came up.
Prior to this our conversations, though deep and very meaningful, had not yet
connected to the possibility of building on topics that something like the
institute process could help nurture. The conversation evolved and I got the
chance to invite my friend to participate in a study of Reflections on the
Life of the Spirit. That invitation was well received with interest.
God-willing this will happen, and not just with my friend, but with their
entire family. Prayers are welcome!! And be patient, dear friends. Nurturing
these friendships takes time.”

⋅ Fridays By The Fire
Every Friday beginning May 10
Held at the Dobbs residence. Pleases message (630-476-1437)
for the address.
Fridays by the Fire is a gathering that was created with the current guidance from
the Universal House of Justice in mind - the charge to build stronger and more
vibrant Communities that are open to all... the yearning for meaningful
conversations has been heightened by the Pandemic as loneliness and isolation
surged through out the world. Creating a space for conversations was inspired by
smaller conversations that were already happening in isolated spaces, so we
decided to open our home where friends could learn more about how to transform
small talk into meaningful conversations that enhance connectedness, our
understanding of the world and our own true nature. These conversations have the
power to penetrate humanity and to connect individuals to the social ,spiritual
and ecological systems that impact them. They also enkindle fellowship and
friendship throughout by creating bonds of trust and love.
Our particular
gathering is music driven and snacks are served. We hope you will join us with
your friends or maybe, simply create a space of your own.

The purpose of the Race Amity Movement is to support means for people of all races,
cultures, backgrounds, ages, and genders to meet and develop lasting deep friendships,
which helps build bonds of unity and strengthens the community at the foundation. One
avenue is celebrating Race Amity Day, which has been declared in several towns as
the second Sunday in June (June 9 this year). Members of both houses of
the Illinois General Assembly have been approached and these members have sponsored
resolutions proclaiming June 9, 2024, as Race Amity Day and encouraging people to
participate in activities towards this goal of developing lasting friendships. This
year the Du Page County Board, will be proclaiming June 9, 2024, as Race Amity
Day. In addition, a proclamation request has been submitted to the Governor's
office for this purpose.
Some events to be held to celebrate
the flourishing movement
⋅Race Amity Day Picnic at the Cobb Park in Kankakee, IL on June 2nd, from
12-4pm
⋅Race Amity Day Festival June 9th in the Village Green Park starting at 4 pm with a
drum circle and potluck supper
⋅Race Amity Day Picnic June 9th in the Madison Meadow Park Pavillion 12-3pm
